In 2008 I began a tradition of participating in the Utah Symphony's annual
Messiah Sing-In every holiday season. It always comes at the perfect time: at the end of November or beginning of December, after Thanksgiving, before the chaos of final exams, and helps set the tone for the holiday season. This year I dragged along my dear boyfriend who, although never singing the songs before in his life, managed to follow along and not just liked it, but
loved it. Singing and enjoying music is a spiritual experience for me, and
The Messiah is one of the best.
Another one of my favorite Christmas songs is "O Holy Night." Have you ever really considered the lyrics? Gorgeous, and so meaningful. That is Christmas.
